Donna Deussen - Jazz Singer

Vocalist DONNA DEUSSEN is an exciting new artist on L.A.'s jazz scene. Donna is a California native, but spent much of her childhood on the east coast (New Hampshire and Virginia). She graduated magna cum laude in 1989 from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston with a B.A. in Songwriting, and moved to Los Angeles to begin her career.

She began performing and recording all styles of music(pop, rock, folk, gospel, alternative, country - you name it!) before deciding to commit herself to the "art of jazz." Donna has performed at a wide variety of venues in the Southern California area, including: Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Auditorium, The Palace (Hollywood), the Cinegrill (Hollywood), Cal Tech Summer Jazz Series (Pasadena), Beverly Hills Hotel, Ritz Carlton (Marina del Rey), Portofino on Pine (Long Beach), Monteleone’s (Tarzana), Sportsman’s Lodge (Studio City), The Other Side (Los Feliz), L.A. Cabaret (Encino), The Gardenia Room (Hollywood), The Money Tree (Toluca Lake), Luna Park (West Hollywood) and many more. She was a featured soloist for the televised live performance of "Thumbs Up L.A.P.D.", and also sang at Royce Hall for the televised performance of the Easter Seals Telethon. Her voice can be heard on a radio commercial for Glendale Federal Bank that is played each Christmas season.

In April 2003, Donna’s long-awaited debut CD, "High Wire" was released and features 12 jazz and pop tunes along with some of LA's best musicians: Mark Massey on keyboards, Aldo Bentivegna on drums, Anders Swanson on bass, and Eric Marienthal on saxaphone. "High Wire" features all-original arrangements by Donna and Mark Massey, including a "Weather Report" inspired version of "Nature Boy" and a jazz rendition of Joni Mitchell’s "River." It is available online at

Donna performs regularly in the Southern California area with her trio; teaches vocal technique privately when she is not performing or recording; and is currently on the faculty at the Performing Arts Center in Van Nuys, CA.
