Kari Gaffney, One of the most captivating voice in music today

Satin Doll, was released on January 14, 2003 and has already reached #3 on the Jazz Charts and #8 on the Top 200 Radio Releases on CMJ (All Genre's). Upon return from Gaffney's latest U.S. Tour she joined forces with Erik Hargrove (Current Drummer for James Brown), Hal Melia (Director of Jazz Studies for KCMU University) her long time collaborator and partner Jeff Williams to create her Sophomore Release "Satin Doll". This release features a seasoned grown up Gaffney. Her voice soars with depth, clarity and warmth. Warmth that wraps around your heart and encaptures it with colors and emotion that reflect the beauty and heritage of Vocal Jazz.

Satin Doll is a product of the momentum, commitment and passion Gaffney and Williams have acquired since their last release 1 year ago. Their tour schedule averages approximately 300 performances plus TV, Radio and In-store appearances. Gaffney was met with such warm response during her last 6 month non-stop tour, she decided to make the road commitment official. The dynamic duo came home and sold their home and moved only necessary belonging's into a 35' Tour Bus. The two felt the only way to truly embrace and experience the heart of jazz was to immerse their lives with the performance of jazz. "She refers to Jazz as wonderfully moving conversation between people, an exchange of ideas and emotions". She believes everyone has something to say and Jazz is a perfect format for that freedom. This outspoken enthusiasm is what prompted a newspaper in San Diego to refer to Gaffney as an evangelist for Jazz. Gaffney was just fine with this comparison because of her deep commitment and love for the art.

Gaffney had the esteemed pleasure of adding to her tour dates such well known sidemen as Frank Collett (Sarah Vaughn' s long time touring pianist). Tommy Ruskin (Drummer for Stan Getz), Llew Matthews (Pianist/Music Director for Nancy Wilson, sideman for Stanley Turrentine, Kenny Burrell etc.) Gaffney spent hours discussing jazz and the journey it takes with these seasoned veterans. Llew especially encouraged Gaffney & Williams to pursue their desire to stay on the road. He explained that it would only be a matter of time before the masses would catch on to what they had to offer.

Gaffney is a true singer. Her heart filled emotion and intimate contralto can cause heart palpitations. Gaffney's Freshman Release "Angel Eyes" garnered airplay across the U.S. & Canada. Breaking through the Top 30 in numerous states as well as top 2 placement in New York & Chicago and #9 in Ohio and Colorado. Gaffney was also voted "Best New Jazz Vocalist of The Year" by California Radio and The Jazz Assoc.
