St. Louis, MO (13 December 2011): It began a decade ago when then 70 year-old Anita Berry became the first person ever to charter a full cruise ship to create The Jazz Cruise featuring over a dozen of the genres' grandest musicians. A St. Louis-based company, Jazz Cruises, LLC was also born and conceived the star-studded The Smooth Jazz Cruise in 2004 under the executive direction of Berry's son, Michael Lazaroff. With both cruises selling out annually, including a second week of The Smooth Jazz Cruise: The Greatest Party at Sea that was added this year, Jazz Cruises, LLC blossomed into the world's leading full ship music charter company. 2011 brought unprecedented growth for the company that evolved into Entertainment Cruise Productions, LLC, the new corporate moniker that reflects its diversification into music genres beyond jazz.

Last October, Entertainment Cruise Productions teamed with Time Life to produce the second Malt Shop Memories Cruise, which featured a slate of idols from the 1950s & '60s such as The Beach Boys, Chubby Checker, and Little Anthony & The Imperials whose music is contained on the nearly 4-million selling, 10-CD box set Malt Shop Memories. The four-day Caribbean cruise was so successful that it will become a seven-day cruise in 2012 boasting a luminous lineup of legends such as Dion, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Ronnie Spector, Darlene Love, The Original Drifters, The Duprees, Carl Gardner's Coasters, and nearly a dozen other artists. Malt Shop Memories Cruise will sail October 27-November 3 aboard Holland America's M/S Eurodam from Fort Lauderdale to Turks & Caicos, San Juan, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay.

Time Life again tapped Entertainment Cruise Productions to produce the first ever Soul Train Cruise, which is spawned from the iconic, trendsetting television series of the same name. "The Hippest Trip at Sea" debuts February 17-24, 2013 with a lineup certain to keep the Soul Train line grooving including Patti LaBelle, The O'Jays, Kool & The Gang, Jeffrey Osborne, War, The Spinners, Harold Melvin's Blues, Cuba Gooding & The Main Ingredient and others under the musical direction of George Duke. Cruising aboard Holland America's M/S Westerdam, cabins are already being booked for the cruise that will party from Fort Lauderdale to Turks & Caicos, San Juan, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay.

"At Entertainment Cruise Productions, we are committed to providing the very best live music cruise experience possible, regardless of the music genre," said Lazaroff. "We are delighted to be launching the first ever sailing of The Soul Train Cruise along with Time Life. To date, we have been selective in our genre selections as not all of them would make good cruises and some require a proper vehicle for presentation.  The vast world of R&B, soul and Motown is a good example.  While this music is perfect for a cruise, we have been trying to find the right wrapping paper to deliver this present to the public for years.  When Time Life mentioned Soul Train, we embraced the iconic theme and culture as the perfect vehicle for such a cruise.  The concept is immediately clear through the brand name and the programming elements are endless. When added to our Malt Shop Memories Cruise and our industry-setting sailings of The Jazz Cruise and The Greatest Party At Sea (a/k/a The Smooth Jazz Cruise), Entertainment Cruise Productions is proud to be the leading full ship charter music cruise producer in the world.  With over 30 sailings, no company can match our experience and expertise. And we are constantly entertaining and exploring new cruise concepts."

Entertainment Cruise Productions' jazz offerings remain healthy and robust. The Jazz Cruise 2012 sold out last summer and both weeks of The Smooth Jazz Cruise 2012, which will be renamed The Greatest Party at Sea in 2013 to reflect the wide appeal and array of live entertainment offered during the cruise, will again be sell-outs when they depart from Fort Lauderdale next month.

“Boom Town” takes soul-jazz saxophonist Richard Elliot to #1 http://jazzreview.com/jazz-news/press-releases/boom-town-takes-soul-jazz-saxophonist-richard-elliot-to-1.html#1&Itemid=293 http://jazzreview.com/jazz-news/press-releases/boom-town-takes-soul-jazz-saxophonist-richard-elliot-to-1.html#1&Itemid=293 The first single from In The Zone explodes at radio as the album garners acclaim

Escondido, CA (8 December 2011): Soul-jazz saxman Richard Elliot has been blowing up radio with the funky single “Boom Town,” which has taken command of Billboard’s BDSradio.com smooth jazz national airplay chart for the past four weeks. The track, produced by Elliot and fusion pioneer Jeff Lorber, is the debut single from Elliot’s October release, In The Zone, and the latest of more than a dozen #1 singles registered by the genre-defining Artistry Music recording artist.

Elliot’s 16th solo collection, In The Zone salutes the seminal instrumentalists that most influenced the saxophonist in his formative years of the 1970s and ‘80s including Grover Washington Jr., Bob James and David Sanborn. Elliot and Lorber penned the nine original songs that comprise the disc as well as dishing up a sweltering version of the gritty Marvin Gaye classic, “Inner City Blues (Makes Me Wanna Holler).”

Concert dates are presently being booked for next spring and summer for Elliot to reteam with trumpeter Rick Braun to tour as RnR, a dynamic duo that held the #1 spot captive on the radio airplay charts for an astonishing 15 weeks with the self-titled, title track from their 2007 album collaboration.

In addition to sweeping the nation’s radio waves, In The Zone has been receiving critical praise. Smooth Jazz Magazine selected it as the #1 album of 2011. Below are highlights from some reviews.

All Music Guide: “Elliot's sense of time when soloing is deadly. The melody is as infectious and celebratory as it is sexy…”

Digital Jazz News: “Richard Elliot lives his passion. A uniquely personal release and a natural progression and follow up to Rock Steady (Artistry, 2009), Richard Elliot shares his own soulful musical statement with In The Zone…Musical honesty and integrity is rare commodity these days but it is clear that it is Richard Elliot's passion that has him ‘In The Zone’ and with one of the finest contemporary releases of the year!”

The Smooth Jazz Ride: “…the iconic saxophonist with the distinctly soulful touch turns it on with jazzy runs, soulful rhythms, memorable melodies, and tight, catchy hooks…Full of sweet grooves, spunk, and slick but not frenzied drive.”

Sounds of Timeless Jazz:Elliot brings his informed knowledge of such great musicians as Grover Washington, Jr., David Sanborn and Bob James and his own great saxophonics to this inspired project…innovative music that will just blow you away.”

The Urban Music Scene: “It’s a Winner!!...In The Zone is a 10 song horn oriented delight… In The Zone again proves why Richard Elliot is such a joy to listen and see in concert...”

Smooth Jazz Daily: “With In The Zone Richard Elliot garners anew the Triple A of smooth jazz. Eclectic music with a well-crafted musicianship on every track that attracts all music lovers.”

Kirk Whalum duets with his brother, Kevin, to remake a classic album in a "Romance Language" of their own http://jazzreview.com/jazz-news/press-releases/kirk-whalum-duets-with-his-brother-kevin-to-remake-a-classic-album-in-a-romance-language-of-their-own.html http://jazzreview.com/jazz-news/press-releases/kirk-whalum-duets-with-his-brother-kevin-to-remake-a-classic-album-in-a-romance-language-of-their-own.html Grammy winning saxophonist’s reimaged take on the Coltrane/Hartman collaboration will be released on Valentine’s Day

Memphis, TN (6 December 2011): Most artists would be daunted at the thought of remaking a classic work of art made by legends, but not Grammy winner Kirk Whalum. The multidimensional saxophonist adeptly steps into the role of John Coltrane and tapped his brother, vocalist Kevin Whalum, to fill the shoes of Johnny Hartman on an unabashedly romantic collection of duets originally recorded in 1963 by the seminal artists. Romance Language, due to be released on Valentine’s Day by Rendezvous Music, consists of all six songs that comprise the Coltrane/Hartman recording along with a handful of modern ballads to complete the disc produced by Kirk Whalum and John Stoddart.

In addition to the traditional CD and digital version, an extended and enhanced digital version of Romance Language will be released as the world’s first complete LiveAudio optimized album for JAMBOX by JAWBONE, a leader in personal mobile technology devices. LiveAudio allows music to be enjoyed in a 3D-like, surround sound experience from a single, small Bluetooth wireless speaker. This one-of-a-kind version of Romance Language will be available exclusively at www.kirkwhalum.com/JAMBOX.

In conjunction with the album release, Kirk & Kevin Whalum will perform a Valentine’s Day concert at the Hilton Portland Downtown in Oregon that will stream live to a global audience through Kirk Whalum’s website, www.kirkwhalum.com.

The Whalum brothers approached the half-dozen standards from the original recording with admiration and veneration. Kirk Whalum and Stoddart crafted fresh arrangements that place the time-tested songs such as Irving Berlin’s “They Say It’s Wonderful,” Sammy Cahn’s “Dedicated To You,” Billy Strayhorn’s “Lush Life” and Richard Rodgers’ “You Are Too Beautiful” in present day R&B-adult pop and jazz settings. The newer songs – including renderings of contemporary hits written by Terry Lewis & James “Jimmy Jam” Harris, Eric Benet, and Joe (Thomas) - maintain the mood, feel and ambience of the storied set. Throughout Romance Language, Kevin Whalum’s suave, velvety voice is cool and in command while Kirk Whalum’s sax solos and fills are inspired, warm and nuanced etchings. The amorous album unfolds with the grace of an intimate hand-penned love letter - seductively sweet, genuinely heartfelt, and poetically passionate. Recorded “live” at Dark Horse recording studios in Nashville with very little overdubbing, the musicians accompanying the Whalum’s were Stoddart (piano, keyboards, organ, backing vocals), Marcus Finnie (drums), Braylon Lacy (bass), Kevin Turner (electric guitar), Michael “Nomad” Ripoll (acoustic guitar), Ralph Lofton (organ), George Tidwell (flugelhorn, trumpet), and percussionists Bashiri Johnson and Javier Solis. Kirk & Kevin Whalum’s 83 years-young uncle, Hugh “Peanuts” Whalum, poured his distinctive, emotion-charged voice into the broken-hearted “Almost Doesn’t Count” and the poignant bonus track, “You Are So Beautiful.”

Romance Language, now so elegantly completed, absolutely qualifies for my bucket list. Having been a fan of Kevin's luscious voice for over 30 years and a fan of the Coltrane/Hartman recording for at least that long, this project is more of a consummation than just serendipity.   Every time I listened to the Coltrane/Hartman recording, I thought of Kevin and mused at the idea of redoing the whole album with my little brother.  Kevin caressed each and every note.  My other ‘brother,’ John Stoddart ‘dined’ with me on these arrangements.  My touring band embraced each performance as we recorded ‘live’ in the studio––virtually no overdubs, over-takes or over-production.  Just sheer joy and love, respect and reverence for the original recording as well as these amazing compositions,” said Memphis native Kirk Whalum, who will tour with Kevin in the spring to support Romance Language.  “Oh... and boy is this album romantic.  I invite you to take it on a test drive.  Drive slow.”

Romance Language is Kirk Whalum’s 19th album as a front man since his 1985 solo debut, Floppy Disk. He topped the Billboard contemporary jazz album charts twice (And You Know That! and Cache) and amassed 11 Grammy nominations. Whalum took home a coveted Grammy earlier this year for a duet with Lalah Hathaway that appeared on his The Gospel According to Jazz: Chapter III. An ordained minister who earned a Master’s degree in the Art of Religion, Kirk Whalum has forged an unparalleled career path in both the secular and the non-secular music words, garnering hits, awards and accolades for his jazz, R&B and gospel recordings. His soulfully expressive tenor sax voice is unique and has appeared on literally hundreds of recordings by Barbara Streisand, Quincy Jones, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, George Benson, Al Jarreau, Michael McDonald, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, and Larry Carlton as well as on collaborative albums with Bob James, Rick Braun and Norman Brown. When not recording or performing, he educates and mentors the next generation of musicians in his role as president/CEO of the STAX Music Academy and the STAX Museum of American Soul Music. Additional information is available at www.kirkwhalum.com.

Oh night divine!

Song stylist Nicole Henry’s Set For The Season: Live In Japan is a year-round delight

Miami, FL (17 October 2011): Only a couple of months after releasing her critically-acclaimed Embraceable CD, song stylist Nicole Henry keeps the momentum rolling with a joyous jazz collection of holiday-themed classics that were recorded live at the Cotton Club in Tokyo. Set For The Season: Live In Japan, produced by Henry and Grammy nominee Matt Pierson (Kirk Whalum, Jane Monheit, Joshua Redman), will be released October 25th on Henry’s Banister Records.

Backed by an astute trio comprised of Pete Wallace (piano), James McCoy (bass) and David Chiverton (drums, percussion), Henry harnesses the full range of her immense vocal gift on the enchanting disc of festive tunes. From The Sound of Music, “My Favorite Things” is presented as an intricately arranged groovy waltz. You can almost hear the peaceful sound of snow falling on the graceful “Christmas Time Is Here.” Starting out playfully, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” evolves from a children’s standard into an infectiously toe-tapping, finger-popping swinger. Henry, who the New York Times compared to a young Natalie Cole, would likely earn the seal of approval from Nat King Cole for her sterling rendition of “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire).” McCoy suavely duets with Henry on the cozy “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” takes the form of a New Orleans-seasoned march, and Henry’s beatific voice delivers “O Holy Night” as a prayerful spiritual. “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” is a swinging showstopper on which Henry & Company go for broke. Finally, while not a holiday tune, she closes the set with the bombastic boogie “I’d Rather Drink Muddy Water,” a present for the ardent admirers that made it a fan favorite at her concerts.

“Singing holiday music has always brought me so much joy, and being able to spread this joy around the world is a rare privilege,” said the Miami-based Henry, who hails from the suburbs of Philadelphia. “I've performed in Japan several times, but the exciting week that we spent at the gorgeous Cotton Club in Tokyo was a delight to capture in this recording. The band was swingin', the audience was incredibly receptive and everyone's spirits were high. It truly is the season for sharing and giving joy generously from the heart, thus the perfect occasion to create a live musical holiday.”

As an added enticement, Set For The Season: Live In Japan is being released at the special suggested list price of $9.98, making it an ideal stocking stuffer.

Meanwhile, Embraceable continues to garner rave reviews across the globe as Henry’s fourth album ascends Billboard’s jazz album chart. The mesmerizing collection, featuring a world-class ensemble of noted musicians, concurrently appears in the top 20 on the jazz and smooth jazz radio charts. Performance clips shot at Henry’s sold-out New York City shows at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola on the eve of the album’s August 23rd release provide a glimpse into the considerable talent, passion, and sophistication that the beautiful and captivating performer brings to the stage and to her recordings.

Greatest Hits Live album and successful U.S. concert tour promises a new day for Basia

New York, NY (12 October 2011): Although she didn’t play Newport or London, multiplatinum chanteuse Basia delighted American audiences from coast to coast during a successful 20-city concert tour that concluded in Seattle last week (October 5) with a sold-out show in support of her newly released From Newport to London: Greatest Hits Live…And More album. The month-long trek that visited major U.S. cities also registered sell-outs in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Sacramento and San Juan Capistrano.

The concerts were ebullient love fests at which fans flocked en masse to the shows, danced to the Brazilian jazz rhythms, and sang along vociferously during the 90-minute hit parades that featured Basia, longtime collaborator and keyboardist Danny White, and a talented ensemble performing signature tunes including “Promises,” “New Day For You,” “Cruising For Bruising” and “Time and Tide.” Almost nightly the vocalist gifted with an instantly identifiable voice was overwhelmed and moved to tears by the heartfelt crowd receptions, thunderous standing ovations and boisterous chants that welcomed her back to the U.S. concert stage.

At a tour stop in Washington, DC, Basia recorded a few songs at the Sirius XM studios, including her current single, “From Newport To London,” which is garnering radio airplay across the nation. The dreamy, ethereal track with a hint of cinematic mystery is one of three new recordings penned and produced by Basia and White that complete the otherwise live 15-song collection released last month by eOne Music.

During the tour, Danny’s brother, Peter White, the iconic guitarist who played on Basia’s earlier studio recordings before embarking on his own chart-topping instrumental career, surprised audiences in Los Angeles, Milwaukee and Palm Desert by joining the band to perform a few songs with Basia.

Below are excerpts from some of the recently garnered album and concert reviews.

Blogcritics: “…she has returned to touring, and judging by her newest live album From Newport to London: Greatest Hits Live...And More, Basia exudes the same charisma and multicultural appeal that first enchanted fans in the 1980s. Recorded on June 29, 2011 at the Wytwórnia cultural center in Poland, the album displays Basia in fine voice as she guides the audience through her past hits as well as newer songs…Basia has become an even stronger stage presence, her voice gaining layers and nuances. From Newport to London: Greatest Hits Live...And More showcases an artist still at her peak, joyfully performing new songs as well as reinterpreting classics from her extensive catalog.”

Smooth Jazz Therapy: “…the CD is the ultimate showcase for her work and a timely reminder of the sumptuous quality of her distinctive vocals…The fact that From Newport To London: Greatest Hits Live…And More has been produced to smoothly blend one track into the next serves to give the album a wonderful fluidity…Basia runs off one magical hit after the other…‘Astrud’ and ‘If Not Now Then When’ provide further glimpses of Basia at her Latin best whilst the studio recordings show off another side of her musical persona. The jazzy title cut is the first to be serviced to radio, the oriental flavor of ‘Wandering’ is as enticing as it is different but in terms of new music there is nothing to surpass the stunningly mellifluous ‘There’s A Tear’. It is right up there with the album’s best but, that said, the quality of this predominately live collection is exemplified by her rendition of the signature hit ‘Cruising For Bruising’. Sounding every bit as good as on the recorded version, this superb track is further enhanced by fine trumpet from Kevin Robinson.”

Minneapolis Star-Tribune: “Brazil-loving Basia and her talented cast combined for a satisfying evening of samba-seasoned cocktail jazz…Musically, the Polish-bred, London-based Basia, 56, resides in the intersection of samba, soul, pop and jazz, in top-notch arrangements by her longtime collaborator, keyboardist Danny White. She croons, scats, coos and adores Brazilian music…As she promised when she plugged the talent of her players, Basia gave ample opportunity for the musicians to solo, including fine new acoustic guitarist Giorgio Serci from Italy and the multilingual Clarisse twins singing in Japanese. The set list featured seven of the 10 tunes from Basia’s popular 1987 debut Time and Tide, including the hit title track that made her a favorite on adult-contemporary radio back when there was such a format. She also offered a three-song medley from It’s That Girl Again (only her fourth studio album) that suggested that her sound hasn’t changed much over all these years.”

Wine and Jazz: “On to Basia, whose September 24 stop at the very hip, coolly lit and trendy Club Nokia at LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles was part of her tour supporting her wonderful new album From Newport To London…It’s great to see that neither time nor tide has touched her powerful, emotional voice one bit – and her longtime fans couldn’t get enough…It’s great to have you back, Basia!”

Saxman Richard Elliot pays tribute to his jazz-funk influences on In The Zone

Icon celebrates 25 years as a solo artist; radio welcomes “Boom Town”

Escondido, CA (11 October 2011): A contemporary jazz giant whose power and passion have made the soulful saxophonist into one of the genre’s most consistent chart-toppers in the 25 years since he released his solo debut, Richard Elliot salutes the instrumental jazz-funk legends from his formative years in the 1970s & 80s that influenced his brand of music on In The Zone, which was released today by Artistry Music (Mack Avenue Records). Elliot wrote and produced his 16th solo album with fusion pioneer Jeff Lorber.

In The Zone is a continuation of Elliot paying recorded tribute to his roots. His 2009 release, Rock Steady, which debuted at #5 on Billboard’s contemporary jazz album chart, was a nod to the R&B artists from the 1970s & 80s that most inspired him. On the new collection, Elliot again revisits his seminal years, but this time casting appreciative eyes towards musicians such as Grover Washington Jr., Bob James and David Sanborn. Lorber was also a young, cutting-edge adventurer during that era, and since he and Elliot have been collaborating on projects for the past ten years, the keyboardist became the perfect producing and songwriting partner for In The Zone. Together they wrote nine new songs and recorded a deep-pocketed version of the gritty Marvin Gaye topical protest anthem “Inner City Blues (Makes Me Wanna Holler).” Joining them in the studio were guitarists Dwight Sills, Michael Thompson and Tony Maiden, bassists Nate Phillips and Alex Al, drummers Lil’ John Roberts and Tony Moore, percussionist Lenny Castro, and horn player and arranger David Mann.

Losing none of his hallmark fervor and dynamic energy, over the years Elliot has matured and cultivated a sense of control, restraint and balance, qualities that emerged as he found peace and happiness in his personal life. “When things are dialed in and everything is clicking, be it on stage or in life, that’s what ‘in the zone’ feels like to me,” said the Scotland-born, Los Angeles-reared musician. “My original motivation for doing In The Zone was the opportunity to reconnect with my earlier self, the musician I was when I first started out back when I was 18. The songs remind me of listening to my heroes in those days and seeing them perform live, feeling incredible joy and enthusiasm about the possibility of following in their footsteps. The wonderful thing is, so many years after I began performing professionally, I still feel that excitement.”

Opening with a familiar dose of laid back jazz-funk, Elliot’s tenor sax percolates on “Island Style.” The first radio single that is presently sweeping the nation’s playlists, “Boom Town” grooves powered by sax, danceable guitar riffs courtesy of Sills and Lorber, and a taut beat laid down by Moore. Taking the tempo down a notch, “Metropolis” would have been at home on a Washington Jr. album. Tasty funk guitar riffing serves as an ideal counterpart to Elliot’s sax, which paints broad strokes while Mann’s flute and horn embellishments add warmth, depth and fullness to complete the picture. “The Lower Road” possesses the eloquent qualities of a singer-songwriter piece as Elliot articulates mellifluously through his sax. A funky flashback, “Bring It!” is an old school booty-shaker that contains a wicked Moog solo by Lorber, which helps transport the listener back in time. The ambience is chill on the seductive mid-tempo groove “Just A Taste.” Fierce and fiery hornwork by Elliot and Mann unite to blow the heck out of the muscular title track. “Panamera” maintains the driving intensity with throwback funk grooves accentuated by swatches of vibrant, 1970s-style radio-friendly hooks. Closing the collection with an emotional departure, “Golden Triangle” is a peaceful and pensive, soul-soothing exploration.

When Elliot released his 1986 debut, Trolltown, he was still a member of Tower Of Power. His solo material quickly found a home at a then emerging radio format - smooth jazz - where he has since amassed an impressive catalogue of #1 hits along with scoring four #1 albums. He is a consummate entertainer who pours his heart into his physical live performances, which helped him become one of the top concert draws in contemporary instrumental pop music. Elliot spent the summer and early fall co-headlining a U.S. tour with Grammy winning guitarist Norman Brown. He has a handful of concert dates scheduled for October to help launch In The Zone before enjoying the holiday season with his wife, Camella, and their five children at their North San Diego County home.

St. Louis, Missouri (8 September 2011): Three weeks of sold-out Caribbean cruises showcasing dozens of the biggest stars in contemporary and straight-ahead jazz established Jazz Cruises as the preeminent jazz promoter on water, but a full slate of concert sponsorships on land in 2011 has made the St. Louis-based company one of the world’s top jazz promoters on land and sea.

This year, Jazz Cruises, the largest private music ship charter company in the world, quietly adopted the “Love It Live” manta, a philosophy with a specific purpose. “Our goal is to make sure that jazz continues to be a vital and vibrant part of the national music scene,” said Jazz Cruises executive director Michael Lazaroff

With that goal in mind, Jazz Cruises aggressively placed themselves wherever jazz music is played live. Either under the company name or their contemporary jazz cruise brand, The Smooth Jazz Cruise: The Greatest Party At Sea, they became the title sponsor of the Seabreeze Jazz Festival and three October festivals: Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival, JW Desert Ridge Jazz Festival and Sedona Jazz on the Rocks. Lazaroff conceived the highly successful summer concert tour by a super group of legends – George Duke, Marcus Miller and David Sanborn – that toured under the DMS moniker on a coast-to-coast trek sponsored by Jazz Cruises.

Jazz Cruises also sponsors the Chicago Smooth Jazz Series, St. Louis Smooth Jazz Series, Vail Jazz Festival, Jazz St. Louis, and a land tour by the Vista All-Stars comprised of a collective of musicians who perform on the company’s The Jazz Cruise excursion. On September 15th, The Smooth Jazz Cruise: The Greatest Party At Sea will sponsor an all-star benefit concert in Newport Beach to support guitarist Jeff Golub, the only musician who has performed on every sailing of The Smooth Jazz Cruise. Golub recently lost his sight, but was given hope by doctors that his vision may be restored through an expensive series of medical tests and procedures.

On sea, Jazz Cruises produced two sold-out sailings of The Smooth Jazz: The Greatest Party At Sea in January followed by a sold-out 10th anniversary sailing of The Jazz Cruise, the latter of which is already sold-out for 2012. The seven-day floating festivals sail in luxury aboard Holland America vessels to exotic Caribbean destinations while featuring stellar live jazz performances in theatre and more intimate club-size venues. The cruises are experiential musical vacations allowing passengers passage behind the velvet rope to interact with the musicians in unique settings. The luminous talent lineups that perform aboard The Smooth Jazz Cruise and The Jazz Cruise include Grammy winners, legends, chart-toppers as well as rising stars.

For Lazaroff, his passion for jazz came naturally. “I grew up in household where music played all the time, with jazz and the standards reigning supreme.  My father was a very good amateur alto saxophonist and my mother (Jazz Cruises founder Anita Berry) was the first person in the world to charter an entire ship for a jazz cruise, so my love for the music and interest in cruising is genuine.  ‘Love It Live,’ is how music should be played and heard, and as a company, Jazz Cruises will do anything that we can to insure that live music - particularly jazz - prospers, grows and is heard and understood by as many people as possible.”

About Entertainment Cruise Productions, LLC (Jazz Cruises)

It's that girl again: Basia to release a live album and embark upon a U.S. concert tour

From Newport To London: Greatest Hits Live...And More includes three new studio recordings; title track is the first radio single

New York, NY (22 August 2011): Blessed with an instantly identifiable voice that made her a chart-topping, platinum-selling recording artist around the globe, Basia returned to her native Poland in June to record a live album, From Newport To London: Greatest Hits Live...And More, that will be released by eOne Music on September 13th in conjunction with a twenty-city U.S. concert tour. The jazzy title track with a European film noir air of mystery, one of three new studio recordings penned and produced by Basia and long-time collaborator Danny White, is the first radio single from the collection.

Recorded in Łódź, Poland, From Newport To London generously offers fifteen live songs, including signature hits "Cruising For Bruising," "New Day For You," "Promises" and "Time And Tide." The disc also has an acoustic version of "There's A Tear," a new studio recording of a track that appeared on Basia's 2009 release, It's That Girl Again, with an entirely new arrangement. The other new song is "Wandering," a love song about traveling through life's ups and downs and getting through them by sticking together. It is a duet between Basia and prominent Polish singer Mietek Szcześniak.

"Since the release of our last studio album (It's That Girl Again), Danny (White) and I have spent a lot of time playing concerts, but we also had some time to write a few new songs. The result of all the touring is that we formed a tight, experienced band that deserved to be documented by recording one of our live shows along with the new songs, which we could not wait for our fans to hear," said Basia. "It was not easy to choose the songs for the live show, but we tried to include songs from every album we have made so far. Danny and I are very proud of our band. Every one of them had their spot where they could shine and shine they did!"

On tour, Basia will be backed by most of the same band that performed on the live album consisting of White (keyboards), Marc Parnell (drums), Giorgio Serci (guitar), Paul Booth (saxophone) and backing vocalists Veronique Clarisse and Annick Clarisse-Willequet.

The month-long U.S. trek launches September 6th in Minneapolis for the first of three nights at the Dakota Jazz Club. The itinerary visits major market cities including Chicago, Atlanta, Washington, DC (Alexandria), Philadelphia (Sellersville), a pair of New York City dates, Austin, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco before concluding at Seattle's Triple Door on October 5th.

Unique in voice and style, Basia's sophisticated brand of adult pop music borrows freely from exotic sounds and diverse cultures the world over. Breezy Latin rhythms, swinging jazz grooves of yesteryear's Parisian cafes, soulful American R&B, and a splash of British pop gloss provide the backdrop for Basia Trzetrzelewska and White's whimsical tales of love-struck romance, heartache and pensive poetry. Ever since her voice leapt from the recordings of British trio Matt Bianco, in which she first teamed with White, Basia quickly made a name for herself in a variety of genres. Partnering with White for her solo debut, Time And Time, she went #1 on Billboard's contemporary jazz album chart and registered three adult contemporary hit singles. Her follow-up, London Warsaw New York, followed suit by reaching #1 and became her second platinum album. Broadening and enriching their sound by utilizing a full band, The Sweetest Illusion defied categorization, producing the #1 Billboard dance chart single "Drunk On Love." A world tour that culminated with a two-week run on Broadway was captured for posterity on Basia's first live album, Basia On Broadway. Additional information is available at www.basiasongs.com.

The songs contained on Basia's From Newport to London: Greatest Hits Live...And More are:

Embracing Nicole Henry

The song stylist sells out a pair of New York City shows on the eve of the release of her critically-acclaimed new album, Embraceable

Miami Beach, FL (24 August 2011): Glowing reviews have embraced the arrival of the fifth album from song stylist Nicole Henry, which was released Tuesday (August 23) by ArtistShare. On Monday night, Henry performed many of the songs from Embraceable at a pair of sold-out, standing room-only shows to enraptured audiences at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Dizzy's Club Coca Cola.

Henry was backed at Dizzy's by a gifted combo, including Grammy nominated guitarist Julian Lage, bassist Larry Grenadier (Brad Mehldau, Pat Metheny, Fly) and drummer Eric Harland (Joshua Redman, McCoy Tyner, Charles Lloyd), each of whom performed on Embraceable. Rounding out the ensemble were pianist Aaron Goldberg (Wynton Marsalis, Betty Carter, Madeleine Peyroux) and saxophonist Dayna Stephens (Roy Hargrove, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder).

Produced by Grammy nominee Matt Pierson (Kirk Whalum, Jane Monheit, Joshua Redman), who corralled a collective of world-class musicians, Embraceable is being worked at multiple radio formats, including straight-ahead jazz and smooth/contemporary jazz, the latter of which was serviced Henry's sterling and totally unique interpretation of the Bob Marley classic "Waiting In Vain." USA Today's Elysa Gardner wrote "The silver-voiced songbook interpreter adds Bob Marley to her repertoire, with typical elegance, on Embraceable."

Profiled last week in a Sunday spotlight feature in the Miami Herald, the suburban Philadelphia native-Miami transplant will support Embraceable with a flurry of performances, events and a radio interview in her adopted hometown. On Sunday, Henry will perform at Unity Church in Fort Lauderdale. Next Monday, she will be interviewed live on public radio station WLRN. On the 30th, catch Henry on stage in Kendall at Blue Martini. An official album listening party will be held at The Stage on August 31st at which Henry will perform. The following night, Henry will dazzle the crowd at Loews Miami Beach.

Below are highlights from some of the early reviews of Embraceable:

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "It is true skill when a performer can create a memorable moment with new material. That is exactly what singer Nicole Henry does with the song 'Even When You're Gone' on her new album, Embraceable. In a presentation that is rich both in voice and grasp of song, she creates a story about loss that seems poetically deeper than the lyrics state."

Smooth Jazz Daily: "Nicole Henry combines amazing beauty with blissful talent...Nicole Henry's Embraceable is an impressive artistic statement of an astonishing vocal talent. This lady inhabitates [sic] the songs like the divine Ella Fitzgerald."

SoulTracks: "Nicole Henry possesses the kind of sing-the-phone-book voice that is both commonplace and necessary among interpreters of the Great American Songbook. Her phrasing is impeccable and Henry also has the kind of vocal pronunciation that ensures that her listeners will understand each word...Embraceable continues a trend of artists putting considerable thought into projects featuring pop standards. It features covers that have not been done to death and a new and attractive sheen on some well-loved songs. Embraceable also includes originals that sport top-flight lyrics and musical arrangements that draw from the church, the blues club and the Broadway stage. On all of this, Nicole Henry and her collaborators strike a great balance and Henry proves herself to be a fine interpreter and song stylist."

The Smooth Jazz Ride: "With a touch here and there reminiscent of the sweet charm of the Dionne Warwick/Burt Bacharach glory years, the bluesiness of Joss Stone, and her own genuinely stirring soul sound, vocalist Nicole Henry drops in on us with a project that captures the attention almost effortlessly with her release, Embraceable. At times, spinning standards into soul-kissed beauties all her own and at other times using her pure vocals on her own originals (four in all), Henry spells sweetness and depth. Her spirited and uplifting vocals truly carry the day here easily. With special help from John Stoddart and Kirk Whalum on select tracks, this young lady does a wonderful job of combining soul, a bit of gospel, blues, and jazz in a signature fashion that offers as much by way of originality and imaginative interpretation as you could want."

Hill Rag: "Vocalist Nicole Henry's latest album offers a glimpse of the soul and elegance of this young, vibrant and contemporary jazz singer. Grammy nominated producer Matt Pierson produced the album in exquisite detail, showcasing such winners like 'A Little Time Alone,' 'Even While You're Gone,' 'Waiting In Vain,' and 'Embraceable You.'"

O's Place Jazz Magazine: "This is her fifth release, arguably her best. Nicole continues to improve as a dramatic vocalist with her rich soulful voice. 'Since I Fell for You' is a perfect match for Henry and one of several standouts."
