As each player bounces notes off of each other, the rest of the band adds their integral parts to make the sum of the parts into one whole, thereby creating one big jazz party that anyone would be hard pressed to match. And that includes the legendary players that have come and gone over the years.
This music bops, swings, and grooves the time away. The opening track "Wide Open Spaces" gets you all warmed up with over 12 minutes of pure bop, and it doesn’t stop after that. Newman and Clay lead you to the promised land of jazz with their intricate melodic sense of their instruments. Once again blues and jazz are forever linked showing why jazz is considered by musicians to be the highest art form. It’s recordings like this that give credence to that belief.
Here is yet another OJC that you simply cannot live without.
