Fastball Live At The Left Banke by Freddie Hubbard

Recorded nearly two years after "Jam Gems", Hubbard more than justifies the critics claim as the best new trumpeter of the era on this high energy set.

Fronting a quintet of upstarts - Benny Maupin (tenor sax), Kenny Barron (piano), Herbie Lewis (bass), and Freddie Watts (drums) - Hubbard blows machine gun brass through his own "Crisis" and "Bob’s Place" while flowing freely on "Willow Weep For Me".
