See How They Run by Josh Greenberg Presents The Mother Goose Jazz Band

Some music just brings that blissful look to your face, .... that joyful feeling one gets when the happy experiences of childhood come bubbling up, forcing the corners of your mouth to arch up past a grin to a full fledged, unadulterated smile. This CD does just that.

True, the target audience of this musical experience is children, but just like those cartoons that you know you enjoy watching with your kids, enjoy maybe a little too much (I’m sure that you know exactly what I’m talking about.:), this CD is equally as pleasing for the older kids as well; trust me, your inner child will be as absolutely delighted as your offspring.

How could one not be pleased with the Mother Goose Jazz Band? You’ve got exceptionally talented musicians playing children’s music using several different jazz musical conventions; .... for instance, "Peanut Butter Cookies" over "Take 5", "Fuzzy Wuzzy" in a Charlie Parker style, "This Old Man" and "Jack Be Nimble" emulating the styling of Sonny Rollins.

To be sure, these adaptations of nursery rhymes serve to bring the historical significance of various jazz artists and their musical importance to a whole new crop of young people, and that’s absolutely priceless. It is my sincerest hope that you get this CD and share in the experience with your children. More to the point, this CD is not only just plain fun to listen to, but it is an invaluable tool one can use to spread the joy of jazz to a whole new generation.

Just a little bit about some of the musicians:
* Over 10 years ago, composer, musician, and educator Josh Greenberg created the Mother Goose Jazz Band; he has been an elementary band teacher for over 20 years and hails from Albany, NY
* "Chris Brubeck first distinguished himself as a jazz musician, performing and recording with his father, the legendary Dave Brubeck. He plays bass, trombone, piano, guitar and sings and, in the past few decades, has earned international acclaim as composer, performer and leader of his own groups. On stage, Chris’ irrepressible enthusiasm is matched by his fluid command of jazz, blues, folk, funk, pop and classical musical styles." [excerpt from http://www.brubeckmusic.com/biography.html ]

* Laurel Massé is a founding member of The Manhattan Transfer. As stated in her bio from premonitionandmusic.com, she is "a vocalist of extraordinary range and ability. ...Masse can sing jazz standards with the best of them, reinvent instrumental classical repertory for the voice in a startlingly fresh way and infuse world and folk music repertoire with meaning as if she were born singing it."
