Willie Poochs Funk-N-Blues by Willie Pooch and Tony Monaco

This is a wonderful combination of contemporary jazz, funk, blues and some straight-ahead influences. Willie Pooch is a fine blues singer and Tony Monaco shines brilliantly with his organ performances. With Rick Collura on guitar and Louis Tsamous on drums, the sound is complete, real and intimate!

There are eleven songs in the collection. Songs include the thoughtful "Why I Sing The Blues," "House Arrest Blues," "Cross My Heart Blues," "In My Lonely Room," "Same Old Blues," "The Thrill Is Gone," "Natural Ball," the great jem of a song "Buckeye Steel Mill Blues," "Willie Rap," "Georgia On My Mind" and "Everyday I Have The Blues."

This CD collection will delight listeners with its creative approaches and the performance techniques of the musicians. Every note played has a message and meaning in this setting. Tony Monaco, as always, is superb and his organ techniques are among the best to be found on the contemporary jazz scene. Monaco and Pooch were fated to make this CD and it is a testament to their jazz roots with what they achieve. Willie Pooch also composes and some of these fine songs are his own creation. This one is something to enjoy for its uniqueness and vitality. You won't be disappointed with it! Excellent.
