Alice in Wonderland: A Jazz Musical by Ezra Weiss

Earl Weiss is a well-known jazz pianist, highly respected for his performances and compositions. Alice in Wonderland brings to life the story of Alice and her adventures in Wonderland, based on the Lewis Carroll book. In this unique work, each character in the book is inspired by classic jazz masters such as Thelonious Monk, and Bessie Smith, to name a few. The musical approach is topnotch, enjoyable, and a lot of listening fun!

Commissioned as an original work by the Northwest Children's Theater and School, the idea is to develop an appreciation and introduction to classical literature and jazz history. It is for both children and adults. Earl Weiss' Alice in Wonderland is a classic of its kind. It has two acts. There are seventeen selections in the work.

Listening to Earl Weiss perform at the piano during the production is a special treat for his numerous jazz fans. His piano playing techniques as usual are superb.

The script by Sarah Jane Hardy based on the Lewis Carroll book is well-crafted, and captures the essence of Carroll's story of Alice and her adventures. These are first rate performances from all concerned, and the musical is a charming jazz work which should thrill jazz listeners everywhere. Congratulations to all involved for a job well-done!
