Shades After Dark by Yuma Jazz Company

This quintet has a nice tight grouping with fine musicians throughout. No fuss or clutter here, just the meat and potatoes of a solid jazz group with a refined sound.

"Rendezvous Of Strangers" starts with a 'noir-ish' intro, then sashays into jump street, featuring Hennig's fiery trumpet solo and the big sax sound of Brian Carlson, which adds a positive punctuation mark to a refreshing new composition.

"Shades After Dark" There is a movie like feeling to this tune and a dark message by Steven Hennig's imaginative soliloquy.Stylish drumming by Brandon Coz has a powerful impact that only discretion can convey.

"Early Morning Low Clouds" Nice shadings by guitarist Carl Posch give inspiration to Carlson's heady and passionate sax solo.
