Hoagy Carmichael: A Jazz Update by Ken Todd & All That Jazz

If you are looking for something that really puts contemporary jazz together in a cool, sweet mood, please give Ken Todd & All That Jazz a listening in their remarkable tribute to the music of composer Hoagy Carmichael in the 17 selection CD titled HOAGY CARMICHAEL: A JAZZ UPDATE. This is a fine collection!

All of Hoagy Carmichael's major songs are here, including "Lazy River," "Heart and Soul," "Ballad in Blue," "Stardust," "The Nearness of You," "Little Old Lady," "Skylark," "How Little We Know," among others. Ken Todd, inspired by the recording, composed his own "Down Home," as a moving blues tribute to Hoagy Carmichael! Carmichael loved jazz and the blues, very evident in his compositions.

The group performing this collection is a first class act, featuring Ken Todd on tenor and alto saxophone, C and alto flute; Harold Danko on piano, a great jazz pianist anywhere and anytime; Arti Dixson on drums; Jeff Fuller on bass. These guys know how to play and together make a perfect group for jazz expression on this CD, and the music performances all have class, style, and excellent solo work!

HOAGY CARMICHAEL; A JAZZ UPDATE is a must have CD collection for Carmichael fans, and for Ken Todd fans. A great gift for a friend, and definitely a CD that should be in the Public Library system for jazz listeners to savor, and enjoy! A Winner!
