Gift of Forgiveness by Kahlil Kwame Bell

The CD opens with the aptly titled "Child's Play" which features kids singing, playing laughing and having a good time. The music comes in about 1:23 minutes into the song with a soprano lead. It sounds light, uplifting and at the same time, sad. "In the Mind of the Most High" is a song filled with African rhythms.... the heavy beat of the drums, the kalimba, the woodflute. Bell also added string instruments like the cello and the violin. In fact, the one thing I noticed about this CD was that it reminded me of the musical score of "Roots." The drums are a driving force on this CD and the music is original. Bell is experimenting, testing, tasting, teasing the listeners ears. Every song holds another surprise. Bells' bio includes time spent with Ron Carter, Roy Hargrove and Baba Olatunji, to name a few. He has also worked with legendary performers such as Roberta Flack Peabo Bryson, and Luther Vandross. In Kahlil Bell's words, "May Music fill your day."
