Imaginacion by Bill Cunliffe

Bill Cunliffe is a remarkable jazz pianist, full of veve and imaginative technique in his memorable performances. IMAGINACION is fun, enjoyable, and showcases some fine performances by the performers. Bill Cunliffe was the winner of the 1989 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition and continues to delight audiences with his fiery, imaginative piano playing.

There are ten songs on the CD. The songs include "El Optimista," "Do It Again," "Bone Crusher," "Afluencia," "Chucho," "Havana," "Heat Wave," "How High The Moon," "Pure Imagination" and "Flying High." Each song performance is unique. The flute and saxophone work of Bob Sheppard is excellent, as is the trumpet work of Bobby Shew. Rene Camacho excels on bass.

Special note to Kye Palmer and Arturo Velasco for their exceptional work on trombones. Every musician shines on this collection of fine Latin Jazz musical interpretations. What makes this collection so entertaining is the intensity of the performances, for each performance will capture the jazz listening audience immediately!

For something unusual and lively, IMAGINACION is a fine addition to the home CD library, or as a special gift for a friend. Highlights include the complex and entertaining song performances of "Do It Again," "Havana," "Heat Wave," and "How High The Moon." Great enjoyment.
