This album is wonderfully arraigned and it really takes your imagination by surprise but Harris is not a newcomer to the music world. The New York-bred troubadour played guitar and wrote five songs for Norah Jones' multi-platinum breakthrough album Come Away with Me including the massive hit "Don't Know Why," for which Harris won a Grammy award for Song of the Year.
Jesse Harris is joined on this album (which by the way is written in its entirety by, well.... Jesse Harris) by a medley of names including Van Dyke Parks, Tony Scherr, Steven Bernstein and Jesse’s band The Ferdinandos. And of course his longtime friend Norah Jones who sings background vocals on four songs and plays piano on one.
The Los Angeles Times described him as "a skilled guitarist and a writer with a gift for poetically sculpted sketches of romantic yearning," WOW! What more can I say?
While the Music Last consist of 14 songs, that start with "Wild Eyes" and ends with "One Day the Dam Will Break". This album is an enjoyable listening experience and you should add it to your jazz collection.
