Threads Of Blue by Dana

Dana Case possesses a soft, yet commanding voice, witnessed on these ten pieces consisting of adult alternative rock fare, spiced up with grandiose, new-age type treatments. Apparently, some of the works are being featured on various television shows. Nonetheless, she’s supported by a rather expansive production here. She sings about love, and the emotive aspects of life. Moreover, some elements of this recording mirror the New York City based, nouveau rock scene as she occasionally adds a wily slant to various themes. It’s an acoustic-electric set, featuring stings, keys, and rock grooves. Alternately, she’s not a convincing soul-stirrer witnessed on tunes such as "Passion." But she sings with feeling and sincerity on the attractive "1,000,000 Miles," which is a song about having a crush on someone. At times, the production surfaces as a bit weighty and lumbering, amid electronically treated vocalizations and a few techniques, seemingly culled from "The Beatles," era. Otherwise, Dana’s latest endeavor signals in a voice and persona that might intimate star-like qualities.
