Do you have one of those "special" albums that you just keep coming back to time and time again? We all have'em. "Easy Street" is just one of those gems. Any time that you team up Eric Marienthal and Lee Ritenous on a project, something creative and special is bound to be the final result. This CD contains eleven cuts and they are all unique in their own way. Marienthal's mellow style rises above the horizon of contemporary jazz is such a way as to capture your attention at every turn of the disc. This musical synthesis contains just the right doses of jazz, R & B, and a slight hint of mild, low keyed rock. The lead song, "Easy Street" maintains a flashy beat with with the mellow tones coming from Marinthal's alto & soprano sax's in such as way as to keep your finger's, hands and feet just "a tapp'in away" from beginning to end. From there on it just gets better. There's no doubt about Ritenour's influence throughout this CD. What a pair of artists!!
