My Night To Dream by Myra Taylor

Kansas native, Myra Taylor recently released an exceptional CD entitled, "Myra Taylor, My Night To Dream." Additionally, Myra re-recorded some of her original recording from her early years at Mercury Records from 1946 through 1947. Such Notable tunes as "Spider And The Fly" and "Take It Easy Greasy" which she wrote. Also, a recently written song "Hey There," inscribed especially for this CD. Other memorable songs on the CD are, "Just Give Me A man," "Lady Be Good," "Still Blue Water," "Straighten Up And Fly Right," "Since I Fell For You," "Mama (He Treats Your Daughter Mean)," "I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire" and "Sunny Side Of The Street."

Myra is a critically acclaimed vocalist who has toured and performed extensively. Her accomplished blend of jazz has depth yet delightful, sassy but stylish with a sense of great artistry. Myra's remarkable vocal abilities as well as her songwriting skills has truly benefited the world of jazz and will continue to do so for a longtime to come.

All of the prominent musicians who have appeared on Myra CD once again displayed their great talent in the world of jazz, and who are legends in their own right. Allan Monroe, (pianist), Eddie Saunders, (tenor saxophonist), Sonny Kenner, (guitarist), Lester "Duck" Warner, (trumpet and trombonist), Gerald Spaits, (bassist) and Todd Strait, (drums).

Some of my favorites are; "Spider And The Fly" it's a cute little tune that catches your attention and never lets you go and it also has a wonderful arrangement which makes the song that much more exciting. "Take It Easy Greasy" the song certainly speaks for itself, it sends a clear and unmistakable message to the male gender. "Sunny Side Of The Road" is clearly my favorite, I love the way Myra delivers the song to you in a hand clapping toe tapping sort of way. She surely brings the song to life, with her own style and flavor. "Hey There" is a very straight forward tune with a mere bashful approach and a modest and harmless invite. "Mama (He Treats Your Daughter Mean)," a song written and recorded by Ruth Brown, Myra adds her own blend of jazz and another marvelous arrangement has evolved.
