Walkin with the Wazmo by Jerry Vivino

What a

I was able to listen and review a CD by Jerry Vivino, long time sax player, and a staple on the Conan O'Brien show with the Max Weinberg 7.

What a treat is was to be able to listen and review this CD. Before I receivied this I had no idea who this guy was, but I’m glad I do. I can see why so many musicians want to play with this guy. He has one of the best tenor sax sounds I’ve ever heard. His arrangements flow together very well, and are exciting to listen to. I love the jazz flute, and it is used to perfection especially in the song "The Fried Piper." The B-3 funk in this song has a nice feel to it. I didn't know if funk with the flute would work, but i was very wrong. In addition to his great instrumental playing, he also lays down some amazing vocals that just make u want to dance. The band behind Jerry is as solid as they come, they provide great support as well as being able to come into the spotlight and take a solo.

The style changes are excellent too; it goes from an upbeat swing feel all the way to a smooth Latin type thing. The music would make a great background at any type of party. I recommend this CD to anyone who wants an exciting, fun, yet laid back CD to listen to. I really dug this guy’s awesome sound.
