Ramón "Mongo" Santamaría, passed away at 3:00 A.M., Saturday February 1st. After suffering three strokes he was disconnected from life support at Miami's Baptist Hospital. He died surrounded by his family and leaves the most influential conga playing legacy in history. …
Jack Maher, who served more than three decades as publisher of respected jazz magazine Down Beat and its parent company, Maher Publications, has died. He was 78. Maher died Friday at Good Samaritan Hospital in suburban Downers Grove.
