Summertime is here, regardless if you are ready for all of the good times that this season brings. This festive season officially began during Memorial Day Weekend. Blues Fest Got Soul The Monterey Bay Blues Festival will be history by the time you read this review. This year’s festival was historical for several reasons. Congress have declared the year 2003 as the Year of The Blues, this festival concluded Black Music Month on a soulful note, and this was the 18th anniversary of the Monterey Bay Blues Festival, which called for a celebration.

Hollywood-36,000 people descended upon the Hollywood Bowl for the 25th Annual (Silver Anniversary) of the internationally acclaimed festival and premier jazz event: The Playboy Jazz Festival.

The distinguished L.A. County High School For The Arts Jazz Ensemble, directed by Jason Goldman opened the program with their interpretations of jazz standards and Latin jazz tunes. Hundreds of people crowded into the Musicians Union at 817 N. Vine St. in Hollywood for a memorial concert for the late great tenor saxophonist Teddy Edwards. This memorial was filled with lots of jazz, blues and great camarade. Teddy Edwards was remembered as a fun loving, father, brother, uncle and friend by all who knew him.

Some people’s idea of celebrating the official start of Autumn is to relax at home with some food, a nice bottle of wine and to check out the many sporting events on the television. For 45,000 die-hard jazz fans, the 45th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival had all that and more. Great golf, good food, nice wine, and some top names in blues, jazz and Latin jazz musicians were on hand to add to this festive occasion, considered by jazz aficionados as "The Annual Rites of Autumn."

Hollywood-The line-up for the 27th Annual Playboy Jazz Festival was announced at a Press Conference at the Playboy Mansion, March 2nd, 2005.

Invited guest consisted of media, musicians and music industry representatives. A light drizzle could not put a damper on the occasion nor lessen the eagerness of the crowd gathered to hear the announcement for this year’s festival.

The Playboy Jazz Festival continues to celebrate diversity and the ever evolving boundaries of jazz.
