Catya Mar has been playing the violin all her life (first concert as a soloist with an orchestra at the early age of 10 years old, teachers a.o. Zakhar Bron), playing solo concerts as a classical violinist in the USA, Israel, Germany, Scandinavia, Italy, Spain. She received her master´s degree at the Music Conservatory in Munich (Germany), held the position of an alternating concertmaster with one of the finest European symphony orchestras (Aarhus Symfoniorkester, Denmark).... and then found out that there were other possibilities, this wasn´t enough.... One day, in 2004, when recovering from a bad influenza and starting to play the violin again, she became aware of the fact, that she was playing something she never had heard or seen before. Music arising from the moment! A quite unusual thing for a classical musician. Since then she performed at Museums of Modern Art (e.g. National Galerie Berlin (Germany), Kunsthaus Zürich, Switzerland)) international concert halls, shows and collaborated with dancers and painters. In February 2006 Catya Mar started to compose songs, where her violin is the primary voice. Electronica / ambient / classical. A collaboration with Jakob Gadegaard Frandsen (engineer) and Henrik Koitzsch (guitar player). Fantastic responses immediately! Her songs are broadcast at hundreds of international radio stations, receiving the most amazing reviews and are placed on TV shows and films.... In April 2007 Catya Mar won the Sonic Bids Award for Composition, what resulted in a non-exclusive publishing deal with the US music publisher Noteborn Music. And in September her song "It Came True" was featured in Vic Alexander..s film "BUTTERFLIES IN THE WIND" at the Awa Gardner Film Festival in North Carolina. In February 2008 she relocated from Denmark to L.A.. November 2008: Catya Mar was nominated for the prestigious Hollywood Music Award. February 20th, 2009: Catya won the Billboard World Songwriting Contest in the category "electronica/soundtrack". April 2009: Her music is featured on the Hollywood movie "Homecoming". The film will be shown at all the major film festivals in the USA. November 19th: Catya Mar won the Hollywood Music in Media Award in the category "Ambient / New Age". The ceremony took place on 19th of November in the world famous Kodak Theater Complex, Hollywood, and was televised to 120.000.000 households internationally. On February 8th, 2010 her third, much anticipated album "Destination Love" was released worldwide. A celebration of love...uplifting, inspirational, dreamy, relaxing, soulful, sensual instrumental songs, that feature the violin as a delightful and touching, stroking voice woven into a spectacular electronica / world / orchestral / pop backing. "Destination Love" already enjoys great popularity especially on iTunes, where its songs have been included into hundreds of top-rated imixes. February 2010, Catya was rewarded 8 Editor´s Choice Awards on one of the leading music licensing sites today: Revostock. May 2010, The Recording Academy officially appointed Catya Mar Voting Member for the Grammys 2011.
