NEWS FROM JIM MARTIN PRODUCTIONS
JMP Records is proud to announce the release of, "The Vince Lewis Trio Better Than Ever." Recorded in July 2005, this is a reunion of three veteran musicians who have worked together in the West Virginia area for many years. This is their first recording as a trio and the 5th release for Vince Lewis as a leader. It is a work that is long overdue.
Since actively pursuing a solo career Vince has achieved national acclaim and airplay, as well as receiving outstanding critical reviews in many major music publications. He has been a Heritage Guitar, Inc. Performing Artist since 1991 and is currently a featured artist on their website and in their catalog. In May 2002 he was the opening act for blues legend B.B. King. Since then he has been asked to headline jazz festivals with renowned musicians Mundell Lowe, Dave Brubeck, Ellis Marsalis, Ed Shaughnessy, and John Pizzarelli.
Rick Justice on drums and Jim Martin on bass are long-time professional players with impressive credentials and experience. They work together perfectly and provide a solid rhythmic foundation to this collection of jazz standards. Vince contributes one original selection titled, "Sue’s Waltz." It is featured in the February 2006 issue of Just Jazz Guitar Magazine, as well as on their website www.justjazzguitar.com.
The recording is largely first takes thus being an accurate representation of the trio as it performs live. This is a project that gives three life-long friends the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience. It is a labor of love and the joy that was present in its making is obvious to the listener.
