With the coming of more jazz musicians incorporating the recorder instrument into their performances, Weiss BASIC RECORDER METHOD is a fine instruction learning book to start with for it contains everything needed to become a recorder performer. Compact and easy to read it is a real joy to work with.
I found the background on the recorder well-written especially the care of the recorder. The instructions for holding & playing the instrument are also well-written and helpful. Special discussion is given to fingering which is exceptional in its clarity.
There are a host of wonderful songs in this collection. Over fifty songs here to interest the recorder performer including "Steal Away" "Early One Morning" "Pinata Song" "One More River" "Where Do You Go "Lover's Lament" among others.
A first class instruction book full of interesting songs it is a nice reference work. Interesting and enjoyable!'For the jazz musician starting to learn the recorder instrument, and for the listening audience interested in learning it, this is the perfect book to start with.
