Bret Willmott has put together one of the best, interesting and most detailed, easy to read, and helpful guides to the study of polyrhythm in harmony with his 240 page book, TIME FOR THE FUTURE. For instance, examine page 34 concerning strong shuffle grooves, or the section on polymeters over 3/4 on pages 126 - 127. Please check out the excellent writing and information given on melodic and harmonic considerations starting on page 217. Fact upon useful fact is shared by the author with the reader through word and example. I feel Jerome Kern, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, and Richard Rogers to name a few, would have truly enjoyed having a copy of this book in their home libraries for reading and hands on experimentation! TIME FOR THE FUTURE is a reference work every working musician should have in his or her library. It is accurate, informative, and it is entertaining to work with. There is always something new and interesting to discover among the pages of TIME FOR THE FUTURE. This book would make a nice gift for any musician wanting to learn about polyrhythm in harmony. Every guitarist should own a copy of this book!Bret Willmott gives the reader a remarkable study of polyrhythm in harmony with his book, TIME FOR THE FUTURE. An easy to read book, filled with useful detail and information for performance, I can only wish in my wildest dreams such a book had been available to me in the 1950s when I was studying such material! TIME FOR THE FUTURE lays it out for the musician in a helpful, enjoyable manner!
