Corey Christiansen & Jay Farmer have produced a winning entry in bass instruction book publications, for this work is detailed and highly helpful to bass players. It contains a play-along CD that adds hands-on experience to the well-crafted book. I would point out that I learned new information on many topics with this fine book, among them, topics such as Blues Scales Etude, Major Bebop Etude, Mixolydian Bebop Etude, Jazz Minor Etude, and Lydian Etude. Probably every bass player would be wise to study the sections on Dorian Etude, Phrygian Etude, Locrian Etude, and Lydian Etude, for what is given is helpful material for creating some unusual performances. An in-depth look at Major Scale Modes is presented. The information is clear, detailed, and entertaining. JAZZ SCALES FOR BASS is highly recommended for bass players, something unusual and useful. This is an enjoyable learning experience shared by two musicians who know their stuff, the right stuff!JAZZ SCALES FOR BASS is one of the finest instruction books of its kind published this year. It is filled with enough information and techniques to inspire every bass player!
