Easy To Play Irish Jigs and Reels by Colin Mawby

I spent an hour running through this collection of Irish jigs and reels for piano, blending them with some piano stylings of my own, and it was a delightful experience. These songs could lend themselves to various jazz piano techniques with ease.

For instance, on page 9 is found a song titled "Heather Breeze." Play it through, add a nice touch of Bill Evans styling to it and you will be surprised at the pleasant sound result!

There are 13 reels and 13 jigs in the collection. "Tea Song" is another song that lends itself well to jazz stylings.

I feel the jazz pianist will have fun with this collection. It is fun, enjoyable, and a learning experience. Give it a try!

Colin Mawby has done an excellent job of arranging the songs. This would be a nice reference playing work to have in you local public library. For the jazz pianist seeking some spice and variety to techniques already used on the piano, this collection should give some input that will be useful for playing and performing. The songs are short, and the approach lively!
