Julian "Cannonball" Adderley (1928 - 1975) was one of the most important American alto saxophone players and his jazz work is legendary. This fine instruction book is an approach to his style of playing as applied to guitar. There is an introduction followed by guide tones, bebop scales, chords, and targeting. Also covered is an important and educational section titled "Cannonball-isms," and various forms of chord material. There is a section titled "Etudes Using Cannonball Adderley Style Lines," plus other material. Both a useful and educational approach, this is a book that reveals the genius that was the late Julian Cannonball Adderley through his unique style. This paperback book comes with a play-along CD that is highly helpful to the guitarist. Topnotch approach to Adderley.For those who enjoyed the work of performer Cannonball Adderley, this guitar approach to his work is entertaining and enjoyable. A must-have for jazz guitarists!
