Among the songs are "I'd Rather Lead A Band," "Let's Face The Music And Dance," "Heat Wave," a soulful version of "How Deep Is The Ocean," "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Cheek To Cheek," "Let Yourself Go," "Waiting At The End Of The Road," among others in this exciting collection featuring some fine piano stylings by Allen Farnham, innovative guitar work by Al Gafa, Steve Gilmore at his finest on bass, Jerry Dodgion doing some sweet sounds with his saxophone and flute along with Chris Potter on saxophone, clarinet, and flute, the ever inventive Gregory Gisbert on trumpet & flugelhorn, the gifted sounds of Conrad Herwig on trombone, and Rich DeRosa on drums and synthesizer. They are the perfect accompaniment to the singing of Susannah McCorkle.
A fine collection, this is one the listening audience will enjoy. It has memorable performances. The solo work is outstanding and entertaining.
There will never be another jazz vocalist just like Susannah McCorkle. Her unique voice will be missed. She died on May 19, 2001.
Thanks to Concord Records her singing will be around for a very long time. The Irving Berlin admirer will love this collection!
