Andrea Wolper's CD is a most welcome effort. This young woman has a swing that never stops. Andrea leads her own group performing in many New York City jazz spots since first appearing in the Big Apple in 1992. The debut CD includes such standards as Angel Eyes, No Moon At All, I Thought About You and the beautiful Mary Lou Williams composition, What's Your Story, Morning Glory. Andrea is equally at home with torch songs and up tempo numbers like Lover Come Back To Me. The California born singer is also an actor, writer and poet. She has performed in Off Broadway productions and on West Coast stages. This recording finds her in the company of Joe Tranchina, piano; Hillard Greene, bass and Dave Gibson, drums. Drummer Bernice Brooks and bassist Bob Bowen appear on two tunes. Joe Tranchina and Hillard Greene are outstanding performers on this fine CD. John Ruskin once wrote: "If you have any soul worth expressing, it will show itself in your singing." How true!
