Miss Midori and the Jazz Inquisition by Miss Midori

The Chicago based Miss Midori and the Jazz Inquisition provide a fine mix of jump, swing and jazz on this new release. Miss Midori has a most mature voice and adapts it beautifully to the various styles presented. Twelve tunes include some standards including Ain't Misbehavin', It Don't Mean a Thing, Mood Indigo, But Not For Me, Daddy and a great version of the seldom heard Lean Baby which was a hit for both Frank Sinatra and the Billy May band many moons ago.

Lesser known tunes include Temptation of Salvation, a Midori/Paris original and a really fine rendition of Evil. The Jazz Inquisition includes John Paris-guitar, Joel Root-bass, Mike Jeffers-drums, Chris Mahieu-piano, Steve Thomas-trumpet and Jon Irabagon-sax. This CD is recommended for fans of the new 90s Swing. It's a swingin' recording and leaves me in a happy mood.
