Tangata by Manny Bobenrieth Ensemble

TANGATA is that rare treat, a complex blend of Latin music, jazz ballad, and world music, which takes the listener on a pleasant journey of unusual jazz motifs performed in a manner that will bring the listener back for more listening. Featuring the jazz musings of accordion great, Manny Bobenrieth, TANGATA is a fine addition to jazz accordion CDs.

The CD features 12 selections, focusing on the compositions of Astor Piazzolla. Astor Piazzolla is the leader of the legendary Nuevo Tango Quintet. "La Muerte del Angel" and "Soledad" are two most unusual and well-performed songs, among others!

Other selections include Cole Porter's "I Love You, Samantha," Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Zingaro," and Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Chovendo Na Roseira." The music on this CD is crisp, original, and flawless in performance solo work!

Kathleen Burchedean plays a powerful piano, and her stylings are terrific! It would be nice to see what she can do with a solo jazz CD!

Every musician on this CD is top-notch. This collection is performed by professionals who love what they doing and it is reflected in the music they each share with the audience.

This is an excellent opportunity to get to know the work of Manny Bobenrieth on accordion, and to share his love for music! A class act, TANGATA is a winner, and the solo work is flawless! Congratulations to each musician on a job well-crafted, well-performed, well-done, and highly entertaining to listen to! Excellent!!
