Beveled Facets by Ruben Gutierrez

BEVELED FACETS is an enjoyable, lively Latin jazz journey, filled with the piano stylings of pianist/composer Ruben Gutierrez! A master of different styles, the piano work of Ruben Gutierrez is highly enjoyable.

This 12 collection CD contains both standards and new compositions by Ruben Gutierrez. His performance of the classic Kahal/Fain song, "I'll Be Seeing You," readily illustrates Gutierrez's style innovations, and he reveals a most unusual stride piano approach in this song which is backed by the lovely vocal of Monica Gutierrez. A gifted jazz vocalist, Monica Gutierrez also sings on "The Story," and the Kern/Fields standard, "The Way You Look Tonight." The musicians are each topnotch, and include Adrian Terrazas-Gonzales on flute, Curt Warren on guitar, Willie Hernandez on trumpet, Frank Otero on trombone, among many others. Other selections include "Beveled Facets," and "Yet Another."

For a nice outing with some fine Latin jazz, filled with listening enjoyment, Ruben Guitierrez's BEVELED FACETS is a sure winner! A pleaser in all ways for Latin jazz fans!
