Dan Buegeleisen has put together a remarkable CD collection in his new WEST COAST ALTERNATIVE. He has taken the sounds of big band and swing and brought a new, hip, updated feel to this jazz expression. If you like big band, and want to learn about the first rate direction it is going on in this new century, this CD is a perfect introduction. I liked this CD for its flawless approach and innovation.

Tracks 1 - 3 showcase the jazz vocal gifts of Kitty Margolis, and tracks 4 - 10 showcase the jazz vocal gifts of Clairdee. Both women are standouts in whatever jazz mode they sing in, and they perform exceptional solos!

There are 10 selections on this CD, and each one is a big band lover's delight, including "My Shining Hour," "I Wish I Knew," "It Never Entered My Mind," among others. As a composer, Dan Buegeleisen is amazing, and his imaginative compositions on this collection include "West Coast Alternative," "Goodbye and Forever Miles," among others. He composes well and with much verve.

WEST COAST ALTERNATIVE is a first class big band collection and should be in every collection. Excellent. Five stars to WEST COAST ALTERNATIVE. Congratulations to Dan Buegeleisen for this outstanding collection!
