Prietos by Omar Sosa

Cuban composer and pianist Omar Sosa has put together an outstanding new large-ensemble recording with his 12 selection CD titled PRIETOS. The word, Prietos, translates as, a color that is really black. Taken in this context, it refers to all black people with musical roots in world cultures, including Cuba, North America, Brazil, Morocco, among others. This is a fascinating concept musically, which is fully released in the compositions of Omar Sosa.

Omar Sosa creates some of the most intricate and graceful jazz stylings around, and this CD highlights his many talents. Songs include "Eleggua," "Takes A Second," "Mother Africa," Nino Divino," "Cha-Amarillo," "Sleeping Lion," "Blanco En Africa," "Twice As Sad," "Why So Complicated," "Fragile," and "Desde Alla." Each selection will surprise the jazz listener with its intense sharing of jazz motifs. Sosa's jazz piano solo performances are daring and inventive, full of verve and creativity!
