This Canadian trio plus one has been known as a Canadian institution, just like Hockey Night in Canada for many years. Their fifth release is their first live recording and was recorded after a national tour. The musicianship is great, the interplay between the participants very good and the release is very consistent, but very diverse. Seven of the eight tracks are originals by Bourassa, but a medley featuring the music of Theloneous Monk, including Round Midnight is a highlight of the CD. The trio have been around for 19 years and it shows in its interpretations of not only jazz but contemporary music as well. For straight ahead jazz, the foursome is real and true.
