Urban Knights IV by Urban Knights

Chicago-based Urban Knights returns for its eighth consecutive project, "Urban Knights IV."

After collaborating with his father, Ramsey Lewis, on seven previous projects, Frayne Lewis headlines the album as the executive producer. Urban Knights moves to the next level in contemporary jazz by offering more edgy, street terrain. The group's core--Ramsey Lewis on acoustic piano, Kevin Randolph on piano and keyboards, Sharay Reed on bass and Calvin Rodgers on drums--pick up where Urban Knights IV left off.

Featuring performances by Norman Brown, Steve Cole, Ron Haynes and Calvin Rodgers, Urban Knights produces a radio smashing 12-track album. My personal favorite is the track, "Alright," featuring the voice of Opal of The Staple Singers. She lends an honest, gospel feel to the song. Another notable classic called "High Heel Sneaker" reveals a bluesy melody over a R&B/hip-hop rhythm. Very nice.

"Urban Knights IV" produces an exciting adventure of incredible artists on a fast track.
