he Baked Potato, owned by the 1960s legendary session pianist Don Randi, is the place to spot notable jazz musicians in Los Angeles.
In 1999, Justin Randi, Don Randi's son, opened a "new" Baked Potato in the heart of Hollywood. An avid musician himself, Justin Randi began inviting stellar musicians to play with him at his club, never dreaming those sessions would end up on disc.
"Live at the Baked Potato Volume One" features the performances of leading jazz/fusion musicians such as Jeff Richman, Vinnie Colaiuta, Simon Phillips, Dave Weckl, Gregg Bissonette, Tom Breckline, Ralph Humphry, Danny Gottleib and Chad Wackerman.
The six-track album highlights sessions lasting about 10 to 12 minutes. There is a mixture of collaborations, ranging from the drums to the soprano saxophone to the guitar. No vocals are needed; just sit back and enjoy the music.
