Guitarist Keith Williams has dropped an EP (six songs) of pure smooth jazz nectar.
The first cut, entitled "Set The Mood", does just that as it sets the pace for the remainder of the CD. Keith's use of octaves first brings to mind George Benson.
The funky "Rush Hour" clocks in at a mere 2:08 but allows an unbelievable funky bass exhibition by Andrew Gladney as well as some intense drumming by percussionist Yattie Westfield. Keith's weird harmonic melody lines brings to mind early Kevin Eubanks.
The remainder of the CD, save the ballad "Ophia" which features beautiful overdubbed guitar, is pretty much the standard format for "Smooth Jazz" with Keith's melodic guitar textures remniscent of Benson and Norman Brown.
Hopefully on his next release he will explore more with his soloing in conjunction with his melodic structure.
