Take One! by Winds & Skins

TAKE ONE! is the powerful debut CD of a new group called Winds & Skins. This is something different and one of the most creative new groups around! 9 selections. Some of these selections are "Blue Canon," "High Modes," "Nevele," "Sandro's Tune," "P Bouk," among others.

For a debut CD, this collection is top-notch, and Don Slatoff is remarkable with his performances on tenor saxophone and bass clarinet. Horacio Calvo as a composer and as a bass player, is memorable in everything he performs. For trombone, give a listen to the fine work Stafford Hunter creates alongside the fine sounds of Mike Jacobsen on congas and Richard Livingston Huntley on drums. "Sandro's Tune" based on a Sicilian Folk Song and Yusef Lateef's "P Bouk" will intrigue the audience with their unusual handling of jazz motifs. Horacio Calvo's "Nevele" is a classic jazz gem, sure to find a home in the jazz listener's memory banks!

TAKE ONE! is a treasure chest of innovative jazz songs. Winds & Skins have created an excellent contemporary jazz collection with their TAKE ONE! Innovative, lively, enjoyable!
