M2 by Marcus Miller

Born at Brooklyn in 1959, Marcus Miller is considered one of the leading bass guitar players in the world today, voted by Bass Player magazine as one of the ten most influential bass players of the 1990s. M2, Miller's latest CD, is a collection of jazz, funk, and soul in a contemporary jazz mode!

Listening to M2 is an imaginative trip down jazz lane, with standards, and originals written by Miller. Selections include "Power," John Coltrane's classic "Lonnie's Lament," Boomerang," "Nikki's Groove," "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat," "Ozell," "Burning Down The House," "It's Me Again," "Cousin John," "Ozell (Interlude 2)," "3 Deuces," "Red Baron," "Ozell (Interlude 3)," and a cleverly inventive "Your Amazing Grace."

M2 is Marcus Miller at his best, a showcase for his talents, and filled with exceptionally good solo work. Among the many guest artists are Hubert Laws on flute, Herbie Hancock on piano, Larry Corbett on cello, Chaka Khan on vocals for "Your Amazing Grace," Wayne Shorter on soprano saxophone, Matthew Funes on viola, Joel Derouin on violin, among others.

M2 is a fine jazz CD, and if you are a fan of Marcus Miller, be sure to get hold of a copy! Pure enjoyment!
