A Symphony of Cities by Moye & Aoki

A SYMPHONY OF CITIES is an intricate blending of world music vision with themes of improvised jazz and contemporary jazz, with a distinct and intimate focus on solo performances. There are 5 selections with "Afro Asian Reflections" having a performance playing time of 24:04 minutes, "Promise" at 14:04 minutes, "Ode To Wilbur Ware" at 16:23 minutes, "ToyoMad Tonal Efficiency" at 12:16 minutes, and "Soba Soba" at 4:59 minutes.

Joel Brandon gives some unique solo performances with flute and whistle, as does Francis Wong on tenor saxophone. Famoudou Don Moye on drums and percussion with Tatsu Aoki on acoustic bass and percussion perform brilliantly. Excellent solo work from all concerned.

"Soba Soba" written by Moye & Aoki is one of the highlight works in this collection and highly imaginative in scope. For fans of Aoki, this is a must have CD collection. A SYMPHONY OF CITIES is unique and imaginative.
