Exit 45 offers a variety of jazz music on this debut 17-track CD, "U-Turn"
-- from Smooth Jazz, to Latin Jazz, to Straight Ahead Jazz, to Rock Fusion, to Bossa Nova, to Funk, to R&B, and a couple of jazz standards. Exit 45 blends all of these styles on one CD, and listeners are taken on a fluid, emotional ride to an eclectic mix of "plain old good music."
Exit 45, which is a name derived from Exit 45 off Interstate 295 in Philadelphia, is made up of seven musicians who wanted to perform a variety of contemporary music. Their style is similar to jazz group Spyro Gyra, only with the addition of a female vocalist, which in this case is Suzanne Hall.Although the band has undergoes a few changes, its vision remains the same.
The track "Down 43rd Street"
features guitarist Roosevelt Walker Jr. and saxophonist Ron Heller Jr. The vocals on the track "Girl From Ipanema"
sounds nice, while the vocals on "Try Me"
sound a little forced. But nevertheless, Exit 45 sounds promising as they seek to rebuild their fanbase.
