We Are The Rowboats by Krakatoa

This Brooklyn, NY based quartet tosses quite a few curves and diversions into the grand scheme of things. They implement wacko EFX, psychedelic keys, and roaring guitar lines amid driving rhythms to round out a rather sinuous course from beginning to end. On the piece titled "Spiral Dive," Glendon Jones’ acoustic and electric violins provide texture and warmth, while the band pursues hard rock stylizations and frisky rhythmic maneuvers. Besides all of the thorny time signatures, the group clearly aims to entertain. They inject doses of humor and classicism into the overall program, in concert with a few subliminal nods to prog-rock favorites, King Crimson, and others. They even perform a few jazzy interludes during various movements. As you’ll be treated to a series of counter-harmonies, polytonal voicings, and wailing guitars throughout. The quartet’s unpredictability and mischievous approach imparts a radiant sheen to this gregariously rendered set.
