When I opened this CD, looked at the insert, and saw that it was mastered in Berkeley, California at the Fantasy Studios I knew that this had to be a quality recording.
Lady Bianca is her name, remember that, and her new album is titled All By Myself. She is a burning vocalist/piano player that can belt out a song as if she was on a mission from the man upstairs. Yes sir, this woman puts so much emotion and soul into every song she performs that you would swear she got a blood transfusion from Ray Charles, Professor Longhair and John Lee Hooker. She plunks those ivories like old Fess himself and sings from her toes just as Charles would. Keep in mind that she does not actually sound like those folks because she is 100% woman. It sounds like powerful stuff indeed. Well, let me tell you something, this music moved me, rocked my soul, and made me feel so alive I just wanted to jump right out of my seat and cut a rug. Keep in mind I was dog-tired when I listened to this CD, so it rather puts everything into proper perspective. This is inspirational and energizing music to be sure.
This Lady sings about commonly referred to subjects in the realm of blues (for women) such as men, sex, being a mother, and everything else that goes along with it. This music is irresistible, the piano is always ready to give you happy feet while Bianca’s voice is a tremendous tool that allows her to wrap those blues soaked lyrics right around your heart and take you prisoner. Whether that is intentional or not it works you over but good. The most impressive thing about this artist is the fact that the entire album is just her voice and the piano; it defines what the word solo means. Now that is clearly TALENT.
I was very impressed with the all-around capacity this artist commands. She is a shining star that burns so brightly that you cannot miss her and I strongly suggest you do not pass on this CD. Go to her website and buy it and you will even get a chance to win $1000 and a poster! Mercy! Great music and a chance to win some cash.... can’t beat that with a stick!
