Keiko Matsui is known as one of the most fascinating pianists in contemporary/new age music. Her ability to merge American music with traditional Asian influences has proven to be quite compelling. Although she falls into the category of jazz, Keiko's crossover appeal fits admirably in popular music styles as well. Since 1987, Keiko Matsui has become a phenom to a large number of loyal fans. Her music is light, bright and vibrant, but it can also be ever so subtle in approach. She and her husband Kazu Matsui have mesmerized audiences from all over the world with some of the most dynamic melodies and rhythms ever heard. Kazu is best known for his world-class craftsmanship on the shakuhachi, one of Japan's oldest traditional instruments.
