Thats The Spirit by Cynthia Kaay Bennett

Spring is upon us so it must be Christmas. No matter, Cynthia Kaay Bennett's Christmas album has all the ingredients that make for an enjoyable listen.

First and foremost Miss Bennett has a crystal clear tone and she enunciates clearly and with sensitivity. But most importantly she sings in tune.

Among the many tunes on this CD, there are two that are perennial favorites any time of the year. "What Are You Doing New Years Eve" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" The former is sung with a rich melodious feeling and the latter, with it's beautiful melody, is treated tenderly and with graceful elegance. Mel Torme's "Christmas Song" is given the proper attention that it deserves and "Merry Christmas, Baby" shuffles the deck with a nice blues touch

Bennett's phrasing is impeccable and she takes care in seeing that the message of the songs are apropos to the intent of the composer.

The ensemble backs this fine singer superbly an tastefully. The instrumental makeup of the group is perfect for this type of endeavor. In a word, It works.

Cynthia Kaay Bennett simply sings the song,as they say, and she does so in fine fashion

Any time of the year this CD will bring a smile and if you're not careful maybe a wistful tear or two.

This is a recording worthy of anyones collection.
