I have a hard time staying away from the word interesting when the music fits the bill. I equate the word in reference to music with thought provoking, intelligent and creative. In other words, anything out of the ordinary that is difficult to compose and perform I would consider to fall into the interesting category. With all of that said, the Josh Goode Band’s maiden release, a 6-song EP titled Fact Of The Matter, clearly made me take notice of the complexities of their sound and all the talent that went into making their music.
Their songs are compact and tight, not like the grand opuses that run for 8 minutes or more found on progressive rock albums for instance. They are able to maximize their efforts and time by keeping their compositions brief yet stimulating enough for your introspection and continuing listening enjoyment. It is not really all that complicated. This music is beyond run-of-the-mill or as common as an old beat up burger joint that you hung out in when you were going to high school (like the picture on the cover of this CD).
The fact of the matter is.... the Josh Goode Band has a great sound that encompasses rock, jazz, funk, pop and fusion, an original revitalizing sound in this day of manufactured hit machine music that is you forced upon you on all radio stations. That is the very reason I refuse to listen to the radio, and would rather play a CD that is real, like this one. Tune out of the radio waves and tune into some music that has substance and meaning, check out this band today, go to their site to listen to some samples now.
