Samoa Soul, Yandall’s sixth release, is an extremely satisfying blend of jazz, blues, R & B and Latin vibes. Right from the title track "Samoa Soul," you know you’re in for something special. That feeling will stay with you right on through to the last, "Dawn Patrol." Yandall makes it perfectly clear he knows his stuff. His guitar execution is thoughtful, artistic and exhilarating throughout. Yandall wrote all songs except for "Funkin’ for Jaimaca," written by Thomas Browne/Thomassina Smith. He also performs a terrific version of "Christopher Cross’s "Sailing."
Yandall serves up a full menu of extremely listenable music with Samoa Soul. Whether you are in the mood to dance, romance or just sit back and groove, it can all be found here. Quite impressively, Yandall is credited with not only performing all guitars, bass, synth and piano, but as composer, producer, executive producer and engineer as well. Whew! Samoa Soul is a definite must have for the smooth jazz connoisseur. Just like The Eyes Of Mars before it, this is sure to be a top jazz CD.
