This weekend, I was invited to an album release party. I must admit it was my first time attending a function like this but I had to bite since I love jazz so much. The artist was Barrie Lee Hall and he played with the Duke Ellington’s Small Band. I could not believe my ears listening to this group perform it was unbelievable! No doubt, the concert was sold-out and the CD’s were sold after the performance. I sat in the car with my friend listening to the CD and wanted to give my input. I will be purchasing more to give away as gifts to my teachers as soon as I find out more information on where to find this gem. I am impressed by the way this band performed. The music is classic/traditional big band jazz for the true jazz enthusiast who appreciate the sounds of yesteryear with the original Duke Ellington’s Orchestra I think everyone should at least give the CD a try. I can't never get enough of the plunger and the variety of sounds come from an obvious group of people who enjoy working together. Just by listening to the song once I think my favorite is "Stand by Me" (an old hymn.) The concert was awesome, and the CD is even better. I think that Duke Ellington himself would be proud of this album.
