The first track of the album, "I Wish" is a groovy piece which opens with harmonious tonal phrases by Joe Sanders on the contrabass, joined by Joe Gilman’s inventive piano to collide in an amazing tandem with Justin Brown on the drums.
The band grandly sets in harmonizing on the inside throughout the motions and the tracks, conceived fluently by piano, bass and drums; each contributing a stinging tempo thoroughly annotated toward ravishing piano, setting the stage for eventually a gradual exacerbation. It's terrific stuff. "That Girl" is the acute point of this delectable album.
Assessing as an unforgettable colourist, Joe Gilman’s calculated fingerings are faultless, evolving in an opulence of sounds fully expressed in every inch of his creation, chiefly on "Sir Duke" or in his solo on "Smile Please".
