The first release of 2002 on the Native Language label, due February 26, will be "Smooth Jazz Awards Collection, Vol. 2." A compilation of greatest hits, the CD boasts tracks from such Smooth Jazz Award-nominated artists as Peter White, Richard Elliot, Spyro Gyra, Chuck Loeb, Urban Knights, and Jeff Lorber; plus a brand-new version of Michael Jackson¹s 1979 hit, "Rock With You," recorded by saxophonist Everette Harp and bassist Brian Bromberg.
Steve Pritchitt, Sr. VP of Navarre Entertainment Media, states, "Native Language is a unique company representing many established artists and titles. At the helm of Native Language Music, is President/CEO Joe Sherbanee, a self-made entrepreneur and record executive, who formerly worked in Product Management at Warner Bros. Records and Artist Relations at Borman Entertainment. Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing Denny Stilwell is President of Unisound Marketing and Promotions concurrently and, previously, was head of sales at JVC Jazz. Sherbanee founded Native Language in 1996 with partner and recording artist Theo Bishop. Bishop has produced and written for artists such as Solomon Burke, Gary Puckett, Peter Noone, and the Russian rock band, Avtograf.
